Jade Smith: A Rising Star in Entrepreneurship
Jade Smith, a senior at Charlotte Lab School, embodies the spirit of entrepreneurship and community service. Recently recognized as a Spectrum High School Scholar, she is not just focused on her own success but is driven by a passion for inspiring others.
Investing in Future Generations
Smith aims to ignite a spark of interest in entrepreneurship among young children. In an effort to empower the next generation, she hosted an entrepreneurship class at Mount Carmel Baptist Church to help kids turn creative ideas into real businesses. "My intention and overall goal is to speak to kids and get them interested in entrepreneurship,” she stated, reflecting her commitment to sharing her journey and encouraging young minds to dream big.
Celebrating Achievements and Giving Back
Starting her first business at age six, Jade has always been driven. By the time she reached ten, she had published two books inspired by her travels. Today, she runs a social media marketing company and works to uplift the voices of Black women entrepreneurs. "I wanted to highlight and amplify the work of Black women entrepreneurs because there are so many disparities and limited opportunities," she explained.
Community Impact and Global Outreach
Beyond her business ventures, Jade’s efforts to give back locally and globally signal her deep-rooted sense of responsibility. This summer, she plans to travel to Belize with the Young Black Leadership Alliance to help build houses and distribute shoes to those in need. "Being in those spaces is really important to me," she expressed, emphasizing the significance of helping others in meaningful ways.
Empowering Through Education
Jade credits her education as a crucial factor in her success. "School has been an incredible factor in my life, and I really value the relationships I have with my teachers," she shared. As she steps towards graduation and heads to UNC-Chapel Hill this fall, there’s no doubt that she will continue to inspire others through her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to service.
