Historic Carolina Theatre Set to Reopen After Nearly Five Decades
The Carolina Theatre, a cherished landmark in Charlotte's cultural landscape, is finally ready to reclaim its place in the community after 47 years of vacancy. Originally opened in 1927, the theatre served as a vibrant hub for performances and entertainment until it closed its doors in 1978. Now, thanks to a $90 million restoration effort initiated by the Foundation for the Carolinas, the theatre is scheduled to host an open house on March 24, 2025, starting at 3 p.m.
